it's easy for locals,tw & hk students, not for mainlanders :(
getting the american visa is MISSION IMPOSSIBLE !

my senior made it to u.s. though, do you know how?
the sg govt granted him citizenship so he applied as a singaporean. that of course became a piece of cake.
but the price is 2-yr NS + 6-yr working
which means before 30 he's not his own man :)

i don't like to be tied down, esp in such a tiny place
but i've stepped into this trap the moment i came to s'pore
really, i have few/no options.
who says future lies in your own hands? :(

but looking on the brighter side, is singapore that bad meh?
no lah, still okay lah~~~
at least got people speak singlish waaah~~
it becomes increasingly a pleasure to hear and speak singlish liao hahaha :D

hm... sorry to hear about this... I didn't know
that it's so much more difficult even if you apply from singapore...
I only thought that it's difficult to get a visa when you're in mainland china.

But I do know of some chinese students coming from mainland china directly...
I'd guess that if you get into a good university (an ivy league or something like that), then you'd have a much better chance of getting a visa? Do you know of any counter-example?

In fact there are numerous counter-examples, but the example of successful application is almost unheard of. It's used to be relatively easy if you can get into a good u...but after 911 they have tightened the issuing of visas. Pre 911, the ratio of successful applicants is abt 10%, now it's less than 0.1%, even business travel becomes next to impossible...all thanks to dear mr. bin laden

i will try UK, it's easier. If not, i will just stay in Singapore, which is also very nice. Actually it doesn't matter much to me..so no need to feel sorry about that...for me, anywhere also can :)

this is unreasonable...
I thought 911 only affected middle east and other muslim countries??
It has nothing to do with Chinese people!
Hm.. I didn't really know that visas for chinese are affected too....

anyway, good luck :)

我虽有两周的假,但得准备考试,2月有3门,3月还未定(德国大学冬季的考试安排在放寒假之前和之后的各一周里,叫“考试周”)。郁闷哪。
