大学里的课是有层次的,很多high level course需要有你学过lower level courses,就像高中的sequential math I, II and III, 不会先学III再学I。real analysis也是一样,光是cal那点是不够的。像我们这里real analysis需要你先学过mathematical analysis,也是一个大三大四级别的课。这就是为什么real analysis是给研究生上的课。

p.s.我们学校是规则是本科生不能选研究生的课,除非你是senior,或者你的GPA在3.0以后而且有advisor的书面许可。Stony也可能有它自己的一套规矩。不是打击你的积极性,而是把事实都摆出来。


哦,我只是指analysis的入門課。就是mathematical analysis吧。有些時候就叫 "analysis". 我們學校的analysis 通常是sophomore念的,有時候也有freshman會take.

數學課很多時候只看title不太知道難度的。。。。例如"Algebra I"就可以很難。

其實是不是analysis不重要,最重要是要一門完全是prove theorems的課。

偶現在讀一篇article都有困難。。。。寫paper也都是語法錯誤。。。。。。T_______________T

可是數學不也很悶嗎;)除非有興趣~!同樣算理科的話,actual science賺的錢一般會比accounting 多,而且同樣是悶課,當然就選前景樂觀點的啦


數學當然不悶:)

btw, acturial science 和 accounting都不算是理科。這些應該算是商科吧。

不是單單paper....偶擔心文科的課本也太難懂。。。。。。

偶也沒說一定要讀數學的~~~理工科適合的話也可以阿~~~ 可是偶還沒發現自己適合讀的。。。。。。@@.....

那些我在MIT OCW都看过了,topic和这里有些不一样。

偶弟是很清楚自己對數學的潛力跟興趣才選這科的
據他告訴偶的消息班上同學唸到一半transfer跟drop的很多

而且就像飯飯說的課程都是有層次性 初級沒過或唸不紮實後面會唸的很辛苦

It is called Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. There are several version of the test, due to copyright, I can only find the following site that provides a free one.

Basically there are four groups and each group has two elements. So total 16 learning styles and each style leads to a career path that can be similar or different to other paths. The two types in group I is Extraversion and Intraversion, then Sensing and Intuition for group II, Thinking and Feeling, and Judging and Perceptive. The results are analyzed and generated by psychologists.

也可能是因爲美國的中學數學實在是太廢了:P
大學來説,我覺得純數是所有理工科中最難的。

小N有沒有考過AMC/AIME, 如果可以應付那些, 那麽大學數學就應該沒有問題。
AMC 12考題你們學校圖書館應該有吧.

我覺得這個考試對將理工科成績的預測效果算很不錯的...當年我同學中拿到好成績的後來的大學成績都很好.
(相對來説, 那些SAT, SAT II, AP 數學的分數就完全沒有意義的...)
