Joseph P. Quinlan
Joseph P. Quinlan is a Fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at the Paul H. Nitze
School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University. A global economist,
Quinlan specializes in global capital flows, international trade and multinational strategies. He
has extensive experience on Wall Street and in the U.S. corporate sector, and was most
recently a Global Economist with Morgan Stanley from 1994 to 2002. He lectures at New
York University and was appointed as an Eisenhower Fellow in 1998. His publications have
appeared in such venues as Foreign Affairs, The Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal.
He is the author of three books, his most recent being Global Engagement: How American
Companies Really Compete in the Global Economy.

Bio for Joseph Quinlan

Joseph Quinlan is Chief Market Strategist of Banc of America Capital Management, charged with the development and implementation of domestic and global investment strategies.
A seasoned Wall Street economist/strategist, most recently served as a Senior Global Economist for Morgan Stanley from 1994 and 2002. His research efforts at Morgan Stanley centered on global trade and capital flows, global earnings and multinational strategies. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Quinlan worked as Director of Economic Research at Sea-Land Services, a $3 billion global transportation firm. He has also been an International Management Consultant. Quinlan started his career with Merrill Lynch Economics.

Quinlan is also a Fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at the Paul. H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University. He is currently leading a study at the Center on the transatlantic economy and its strategic importance to the United States, Europe and the world.

Quinlan lectures on global finance at New York University, where he has been on the faculty since 1992. In 1998, he was nominated as Eisenhower Fellow and studied China-Taiwan cross-straits relations for a month in Taiwan. He has published over 125 articles on international economics and trade, with publications appearing in such venues as Foreign Affairs, The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal and Barron's. He is the author of three books, the most recent being, "Global Engagement: How American Companies Really Compete in the Global Economy."

Joseph Quinlan is a Senior Global Economist at Morgan Stanley in New York. He has been with the firm since 1994. As part of the Economics team, Joe is responsible for research on global capital flows, global trade and global corporate earnings. He is recognized as a leading expert on multinational strategies and has written extensively on the subject. Quinlan began his career on Wall Street with Merrill Lynch, and has worked as a management consultant and in the global transportation sector.

Quinlan received his Master’s in International Economics from Fordham University in 1982 and has subsequently done other post-graduate work at New York University.
