Can DIAG check for Cache error? [Incident:081105-002971]
Customer (Roy) 11/05/2008 07:20 PM Recently I got a WD6400AAKS 640GB drive and I found that when I copied files to this new drive and used winmd5sum for verifying files, I got different checksum of file in new drive and the checksum changes every time when calculate the MD5 again. If I use DIAG to check that new drive, no error occur in all testes, so I assume that is a cache error and I return that drive to retailer for replacement.
As cache error seems more likely to encounter (e.g. Seagate's 1.5TB drive, and my WD6400AAKS I got) So I hope DIAG for windows can check for cache errors.
