Some people do not agree that the current examination system in the US (i.e GRE being the graduate school extrance examination) is a fair and accurate way to measure the ability of the student to succeed in the graduate school study. However, the ETS have claimed that they see this obstacle as a reality that no exam is possible or somewhat likely to accommodate a very large pool of test takers from different discipline. The ETS' excuse shows a relunctance in facing the real world challenge and such attitude is highly criticized in the realm of science and engineering, where men make the impossibles possible, fairy tales have become the state of the art at particular time. The ability of creative thinking and data analysis based on intuition are just the two examples of highly valued practices in science and engineering. A good measure of such abilities can be more useful in determining a student overall competence to obtaining a degree in graduate school.
