acturally, this is my first time hearing of this kind of thing, probably I've been using it for a while..

a list of members: http://members.internet2.edu/university/universities.cfm
I think it covers most of major institutes.

Basicly, Email, web browsing, and file transfers between one and other Internet2 connected institutions automatically travel over Internet2 networks instead of the regular Internet and so are much faster and more reliable.

I'm gonna do some research on this look-like-cool thing.
