没有玩过ICO这个游戏的朋友恐怕很难理解这首歌带给玩家的感动。但就这首歌本身来说，让我对它念念不忘的原因也很充分。英文歌曲大多数都很直接，极少有人把歌词写得如此有诗意。而主唱的声线……与其说是唱出来的，还不如说它是从歌者心里流淌出来的。以吉它为主的配乐则完美辅助了表达，让全曲跌宕起伏，却又维护了整体的平缓、淡雅、宁静的诗意。
所以，从多年前获得这首OST的时候开始，就一直有翻译的欲望。但是，翻译这样一首英文诗，谈何容易？
直到有一天，忽然想起来，可以仿写中国古诗的文体。虽然不能作为填词翻唱用，但要表达原文的诗意，还是可能的。于是，几经努力，终于就诞生了这样一个“意译版”。
